OK, I do have just one thing to say..what the hell is that thing? I mean, aren't mice supposed to be about 1 inch long?

Clever he/she put it in the food dish! It looks like a mouse, an overly radiated escapee from the testing facilities mouse.
My neighbor said it was a "wood rat"....she puts everything in the food dish!

funny, it looks like the water rats around our house. Speaking of rats, the kids were treated to their own slice of national geographic the other morning before school, our lovely feline had caught something and proceeded to eat it, right in front of the living room window as they were leaving for school

i think it would be delicious with some carrot and turnip...slurp...!!
