Musical Monday

Since my both of my musical choices are drinkin' songs, I am posting Musical Monday on Sunday night.
What's that you say? You can't party on Sunday night? Sure you can!
Both of these songs make me want to be in some pub in Liverpool drinkin' with Mr Ratburn and my good ol pal FG.
Actually I was quite surprised that the Proclaimers were not a more rowdy looking bunch o' guys. I also did not realize that The Proclaimers are twin brothers, and not one guy done up with some fancy camera work as I originally thought when I saw the "official MTV version" of this tune.
Lady and Gentleman, The Proclaimers!

After a couple more shots have been had, you can settle into your barstool and enjoy the second tune. It's a fabulous drinkin' song!
Chumbawamba?
I have always loved this song but I have NEVER heard the name of this band before!

Have a lovely week, mates!

55Flash Fiction Friday

Little Prithi had been wandering through the forest all morning. She was hot, tired, and very very hungry. Suddenly Prithi came to a clearing in the woods, and there on the ground was the largest banana that Prithi had ever seen!
She would not go hungry anymore. Prithi annoyingly notes that the banana tastes fuzzy.

I saw this little handmade felt banana on ETSY, and I just had to have it. Anyone that works that hard hand sewing a teeny little 'nana deserves to have a sale!
The little trunk up elephant is my gift from Mr Ratburns adventures in LA. While wandering in Venice this week, Gary met a man from Tamil Nadu who sells Indian treasures. Boy, was I glad he bought it from an Indian man and not some white tourist charging inflated prices for things not of his own culture.
By the way, elephants come with either their trunk up, or trunk down. Trunk up ~ Good luck, madam!
Have a lovely weekend,
and be sure to let G~man know that you played 55 with us. He is our official 55 Flash Ficiton host from now on. Try to visit everyone's 55s this weekend if you can!

Thursday Portrait

As my three faithful readers know, Mr Ratburn is out of town. It's Spring break and ya know...
I could use some Susie time.
Alone.
Bubble bath, door locked.
No litter box in the bathroom while I'm taking my bath, either! LOL

Hurry back, Mr Ratburn!

The Cat Is Away....

Mr Ratburn is in Los Angeles goofing off.
Yes, yes, there really are parts of Los Angeles that still look like this. I think this is Palos Verdes Peninsula....or the Sunken City plateau in San Pedro, but knowing Mr Ratburn and his crazy friend Mr Sean, it could be anywhere.
Much cerveza is being consumed.
This is another picture they sent me from last nights adventure.....

Oyyyyyyyyy!!!!

You would be proud of me, Mr Ratburn. I have done the dishes twice!

It's Spring Break from School...I can do thisssssss! EEEKKK!!!!

Thought I'd join in with the quiz stuff today....I am a green crayon! Cool.
I was pretty sure I'd get purple like Lime did, but then, I do not wear birkenstocks OR tie dye believe it or not.

You Are a Green Crayon

Your world is colored in harmonious, peaceful, natural colors.

~

You are Barefoot!

You're a total free spirit, go with the flow girl
You can't be restricted by shoes for very long

This was even more fun, and look what I am! BAREFOOT OF COURSE! Hurray! Some of you do not know that I once had to have surgery on my heel to remove a sewing needle that I stepped on which got imbedded in my achilles tendon. Hazards of my profession, I guess. Don't worry, the needle is out! Oh, and I have even more foot news, last week I was chasing Gupta through the house and I crashed into the book shelf and broke my left baby toe. OUCH. I will not share a picture, but some of you may remember that my right baby toe is permanently broken. I can bend it all the way out to the side. I hope that doesn't happen with the left toe...sigh.
Have a lovely day, everyone!

Happy Spring, My Friends!

Feeling really relaxed in Hampi.

A couple of kids from this group asked Gary if he would take their picture with his camera. As Gary began to take the picture, the other 50 people from their group joined them. OK, I dont really know how many people are in this picture, but it was NOT planned, not staged, NOT set up! I think I'm gonna count all those lovely colorful people when I get the chance.

Isn't it just incredible?!!!

55Flash Fiction Friday

"That's right you monochromatic eggheads, call me a tramp, willyas....all because you're jealous. Look at them sitting there all prim and proper with their tacky cheap rouge in neat circles and their lips all pursed. Tammy there, she had her shell cracked at a really young age! And, Debbie, shes really loose with her yolk."

Sorry about posting another rerun folks! I am so happy to tell you that I have been selling clothes like crazy this past week, and I just don't have it in me. But I think this one is hilarious. It was actually written last year by myself, Logo and Mr Ratburn. Oh, the miracles of online life!
I hope I didn't freak you out with my post yesterday. Someone said I was being bold. I don't think I was being bold at all, I was being real. There's a difference. Anyway, I hope you will all have a lovely weekend!
Try to get by and check out everyone elses 55's ok?

55Flash Fiction Friday

Oh India
Why when we are together do i often treat you as my favorite whore
ancient doorway candlelight
hating you a little
and when we are apart
I want you like my lover
far away
forbidden
frustrating mystery
silken flower
vibrant chaotic beauty that is my India
why is there never enough of you?
~
OK, old 55, new photo! This is one of my favorite 55s because it captured my feelings after I had been home from India for a few days. I think it's from 2006, anyway. The photograph is from Jaipur this year. I really love the expressions on the faces of the men buying apples, the old fashioned look of it all, except for the car, which looks like it doesn't belong there at all.
I hope you will all get over to each others 55's and check em out.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!

CatTatt Scratch Fever HNT

That cat has scratched my tattoo!
HORRORS!
I am seriously going to need some sort of ankle protectors for the summer.
Happy HNT, Everyone!

Goldfingers!

While in Jaipur, Aslam took me to a "factory" where they make textiles with gold and silver "stuff". All day long these men make cotton prints by hand, and when I inquired about why none of them were wearing masks, the boss told me that they give them the masks, but they do not wear them. I am not sure if I believed him.
He calls himself "Handsome". He was a bit of an ass. That's Handsome there, with the dark glasses. Snort!
*Wear your particle mask, kids!*

I Saw Rufus Last Night!

And he was fantastic!
Rufus performs Grey Gardens on Isaac Mizrahi's show, (hilarious how large Isaac is and how small Rufus in comparison!)
Rufus at the Napa Valley Opera House
Sunday March 9th, 2008
Grey Gardens
This Love Affair
Beauty Mark

In My Arms
California
Going To A Town
Matinee Idol
Nobodys Off The Hook
Gay Messiah
Not Ready To Love
April Fools
Zebulon
Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk
The Art Teacher
Dinner At Eight
Rufus was perfect, flawless, awesome, beautiful, and sexy in a navy blue pinstriped suit and white dress shirt, no tie. (Of course it matters, right Polt!) The Napa Valley Opera House only has 20 rows, my seat was in the last row, but given the last minuteness of the performance, I felt lucky to even be getting a ticket at all.
Of course, all the seats are good seats at the Napa Valley Opera House, last row be damned!
Gosh darnit, I just love you Rufus! Thank you.
What a way to start the week!

.......If only my ass wasnt so sore.

Todays 55 is for G~man who is out riding the range! Go get em, G~Man, we all hope you are having a really good time. And um, do they have any good garbage in Florida?

Masala Dosa HNT

The first time I came to India, I was introduced to a South Indian specialty called masala dosa, and I loved it the second I tried it. I was even fortunate enough to go to THE place for masala dosa, SAMRAT, which happens to be in the same building as my very favorite Hotel Chalukya!

I can hardly wait every year to get to Samrat and have my masala dosa.

OK I googled and not only did I get a picture of masala dosa, I got THE picture of the SAMRAT dosa!!! My mouth is already drooling! What you can't see are the potatoes, onions and cashews inside the crispy shell! YUMMMMM!!!
And here is Mr Ratburn enjoying a tea after his very first masala dosa, at Samrat of course!

Did he like it? LOL Of course he did, and in fact ate two right away and wanted to come back the next day.
~
Happy HNT everyone!

**Dear Os, I have once been visited by the Blue Window Of Death and since then prefer PC's.**

This Quiz Was Obviously Created By An East-er

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

The Midland

Boston

North Central

The Inland North

Philadelphia

The South

The Northeast

Well, I think though, that I might have some of that Southern California surfer for real accent....I can't help it, I grew up "down there"!

This Just In......

Yesterday I got an email from a really nice couple that Gary and I met while in Goa. The husband grew up in the states, and when he was in high school, the wife to be came from Denmark on an exchange program. They have been together ever since...something like 30 years, and live in Denmark.
They have two awesome sons, and both have also had the opportunity to come to the states to study for a year, and like their mother and father who went to the same high school as these boys did, they are the highlight of this small town high school, and all the girls crazy over these gorgeous blonde boys!
We had a really good time getting to know this lovely family and they have sent me some hilarious pictures from New Years Eve. You know, the crazy Russians, the whiskey, the dancing?
Of course I am not doing a sparkler, and yes I am protecting my head. Remember what happened to me last year when I did the sparklers? I love this picture because it is exactly midnight and I am trying not to catch on fire like last year instead of celebrating.

That night! I am telling you now, I am more than two sheets to the wind in these pictures, but they are so fun, they capture the excitement and craziness of the evening. Now, unless I know someone is taking a picture of me, I am completely the queen of goofy faces, but you know, it's ok, you have all seen enough "good" pictures of me to know that I don't always look this......um...BAD! LOL

OK, stupid face but let me remind you, it's New Years Eve, it's about 90 degrees, about 90% humidity at 11 pm. Gary and I were the first and the last people on the dance floor, and here we are starting the fun! I am not picking my nose, I think I am wiping sweat off my face!

Once more, I apologize for not being around. I just can't spend the time that I used to blogging, and, as another blogger once told me, "if you spent more time working and less time online you might actually make some money!"

I have taken his advice, and you know what? He was absolutely right! Are you at all surprised? But, all is well in the Susie/Ratburn/Little Rita front, although LR is 11 1/2 now and getting incredibly emotional and moody so I have to ya know, tie on my cape (no cape! no cape! Right, Logo?) and tights and become super mom of preteen daughter now. She is also almost as tall as me and eyeing my shoes!

Have a lovely week, I will not bore you with Muscial Monday but if I had posted something, it would either be Amy Winehouse or The Zutons.

Over and out.

Susie
