Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!

I am sad to report that these are not my pumpkins. This year the gophers won. So instead I will take you back to a time when the pumpkin patch was a success...

Waiting for the great pumpkin...

Have a scary Halloween!

Whatcha Say?

I love it when I find someone new to listen to. New to me, that is. Lady and gentleman, Imogen Heap. Now I wanted to post her hit tune from a few years back, called Hide and Seek, but I cannot get that for you. You will have to go over there and check it out. Go ahead, I will wait.
Instead I will post Headlock which is also a pretty cool tune, IMOP. You can check that out too if you want.

So, did you go over and listen? I just love that song. Now, some of you might have also heard this following tune, in which Jason Derulo, ahem, "heavily samples" Imogens Hide and Seek. Check it out:
**UPDATE*** here I have switched out the actual Whatcha Say? video for the link because it was messin' with my visuals, and we can't ever have that!

Personally I think Mr Derulo did a fine job of "heavily sampling" Imogens tune so I'm gonna let it go. I'm referring only to the song, this video you can multitask while listening to....
How about you? Whatcha say?

Oh, My Tortured Soul!

Sighhhh.....

So dear readers, I have a dilemma. I noticed that Rufus is performing in Seattle on November 8th. Oddly, that is a Sunday night.
I figure that Sunday night thing would cause me some logistics problems what with Little Rita needing the mom taxi and all, and Mr Ratburn having to commute to his school on Monday morning. Plus, I have already splurged on some extra special seats for when Rufus performs with the San Francisco Symphony in April '10 so I figured I oughta behave and squelch my plan to run to Seattle just to see Rufus.
So today I'm wondering what my other favorite songwriter/performer is up to so I headed over to the Joan Wasser website to check out her tour schedule. Let's see....November 8th,
Benaroya Hall, Seattle

Joan Wasser aka Joan As Police Woman

WTF!!!!! WHOA! WHHHHHHHHAAAAAAATTTT???????? NOOOOOOOO!!! Not Joan and Rufus on same night in Seattle....NOOOOOOOOO, it can't be. So what to do?

Reasons Not to Spend half a months rent flying to Seattle and tickets, hotel and all....

Logistics Problems
I'm going to India in 67 days.

Reasons to Spend half a months rent, bla bla bla

It's my birthday on December 1st
Joan and Rufus TOGETHER?!!! Come on!
I love Rufus
I love Joan Wasser
I love Rufus
I love Joan Wasser
I just LOVE THEM BOTH
EEEEKKK!

What to do?
Please offer sensible advice, condolences or otherwise.

Cake Wrecks

Little Rita found this hilarious feature fron the New York Times all about cakes gone wrong. Since yesterday was Limes birthday, and next week is Little Rita's 13th birthday, I thought I'd share these fabulous birthday cake pics.

Astounding, award winning. Even.

I hope Mr Blank likes his cake. It looks delicious anyway.

Um, Ride 'em cowboy?

Is that Charlie Tuna? Are you kidding me? On a birthday cake? Really?

"Oh, I lave you too, honey, thanks so much for the cake!"

If you want to read more about cakes gone wrong, go here.
Now, my birthday is coming up in 6 weeks and I expect this cake nonsense to be straightened out by then.

Time For Some Regretsy

The seller of this piece describes it as “really fun”, and I have to agree. I don’t think there’s anything more fun than a baby rat in your mints, unless it’s a dead cat in your chimney or maggots in your sink. Oh man, I’m smiling just thinking about it.

Around this time of year, I like to do a feature on ETSY.com because it's the best online marketplace for handmade clothing, art, jewelry, woodwork, ceramics, and all sorts of odd handmade crap, and besides, you know it's where I hang my shingle.
I will probably do that ETSY feature again this year but before I do that, I would like to share this with you. This is from a blog called REGRETSY, (omg the name alone slays me!) and this person who runs it has found a bunch of the oddest crap for sale on ETSY and is now sharing it with us. The captions that are added by the blog owner are worth heading over there to check out! You will laugh your ass off reading the captions that have been added by the blogger. I have to hope that my clothing never makes it onto this blog! No regretsys now!
