55Flash Fiction Friday

It has been days since she has eaten
the rations are finally delivered
tasty and crunchy
she greedily lets crumbs fall where they might
crackers fill her fists
at night after eating
she has strange visions
of screams and mechanical sounds of machinery
her dinner is ready
flat
crispy
green
delicious
soylent green is people!
Ack ack Im sick, I know...love that film, how about you? Have a wonderful weekend and please let me know if you played today, so we can all come over and check out your writings!

In These Shoes HNT

I once met a man with a sense of adventure
He was dressed to thrill wherever he went
He said "Let's make love on a mountain top
Under the stars on a big hard rock"
I said "In these shoes? I don't think so."
I said "Honey, let's do it here."
~
So I'm sitting at a bar in Guadalajara
In walks a guy with a faraway look in his eyes
He said "I've got as powerful horse outside
Climb on the back, I'll take you for a ride
I know a little place, we can get there for the break of day."
I said "In these shoes?
No way, Jose"
I said "Honey, let's stay right here."

No legusta caminar. No puede montar a caballo
Como se puede bailar? Es un escandolo

Then I met an Englishman

"Oh" he said

"Won't you walk up and down my spine,

It makes me feel strangely alive."

I said "In these shoes?

I doubt you'd survive."

I said "Honey, let's do it. Let's stay right here."
~
I hear this song on the radio every now and then...it's by Kirsty MacColl if you wanna check it out...

Happy HNT Everyone!

It's a Lovely Day, eh?

Every year when I get back from India, I notice that I have picked up more words that I inject permanently into my vocabulary. "Acha" and "beta" (ok, or yes, and dear one), "Yaar" for friend, and "chalo!", the standard expression for getting rid of street urchins, or just saying to your friends, "Chalo!", Let's go!
These words are stuck with me forever, and I use them a lot.
OK so now even you can already make some sentences in Hinglish.
Chalo yaar, I'm starving for samosas!

Acha acha beta, I will take you to the bazaar to buy some sweets!

Chalo, you little cobra, before I tell the beggarmaster on you for spending all your rupees on Mysore Pak!

All in fun, all in fun! But here's the point I am trying to make today. How is it that I can spend a month in India, and this year, the only expression that has stuck in my head is, "Eh?"

Why is that? A Canadian expression collected in India, and permanently adhered to my brain?
It's a beautiful day, eh?
There sure were a lot of people at the market today, eh?
This is why:

Madam, I miss you terribly, but I cannot stop saying EH! This is all your fault, you know. Is there a cure for this? I realize that having a Canadian mother isn't going to help, the EHing is in my blood afterall.
Have a lovely Tuesday everyone, EH?

Words Are Flowing Out Like Endless Rain Into A Paper Cup

Image hosting by PhotobucketThis week I have chosen a Beatles tune, Across the Universe. What an awesome song, isn't it? But, with a twist, you see, because this is Rufus' cover of Across The Universe. It's so darned lovely, I'm thinking even Cathy might like it. Whaddya say guys, give it a try. It's a lovely video, full of hope and magic and dreams.
Have a great Monday!

In other news, I spent the weekend floating above my trampoline. I am down now, thank you.

55Flash Fiction Friday & Weekend Update

Ack! As if one of me isn't enough, look what BS has gone and done!
It was Friday already, yet she hadn't showed up for 55! It wasn't like her at all to flake on such things. Clearly G~man and Barman were worried, so they went over to check things out. They were horrified at what they found.
There she was, Barefoot Mistress suspended in air, unable to get down.....
"Help!"

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I'll just be hanging around up here until I can figure out how to get down.

Trampoline HNT

Say say old playmate
come out and play with me
and bring your dollies three
climb up my apple tree
shout down my rain barrel
slide down my cellar door
and we'll be jolly friends
forever more!

Mr Ratburn is our playmate too!

(Sorry Lime, you can't play, you might get hurt! Well ok, but you have to bring a helmet.)

Happy HNT everyone!

Yes It Really Is More Rufus!!!

Image hosting by PhotobucketHappy Monday everyone!
This is a beautiful Rufus song called Go Or Go Ahead. Please enjoy it.

I know what you're thinking....Tori...Rufus...Tori...Rufus...sheesh! That's right...that's exactly right. They both have new releases and I just can't listen to anything else.
In other news! Had a very busy weekend selling my clothing at the bazaar, and did quite well. I am pleased but exhausted. And today after school, Little Rita and I are going shoe shopping because this morning I noticed my child stuffing her feet into too small shoes. It was kind of cute, and kind of sad at the same time..my little girl is growing up, and her feet are becoming much too close to my shoe size. Stay away from my Chacos, Little Rita, and your life will be spared.

See you around!

Behind Crystaline Irises Loons Can Dive....

Please enjoy this video of the kids at PS22 doing Tori Amos' Carbon. I apologize for the quality. The music director himself puts these videos onto Youtube. The kids call him Mr G.
I've included the lyrics to Carbon so that you can sing along! Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend and so on in case I don't get back here before you do...and BTW all you lurkers...this is the only time i'm ever gonna say this...ya see that down there? over 21,000 hits, so I know you're out there!

Carbon

Carbon made
Found her at the
End of a chain
Time to race she said
Race the downhill
Behind crystaline irises
Loons can dive
Where the world bleeds white

Just keep your eyes on her
Keep don't look away
Keep your eyes on her horizon

Bear claw
Free fall
A gunner's view
Black and blue
Shred in ribbons
Of lithium
Blow by blow
Her mind cut
In sheets
Layers deep
Now unravelling

Just keep your eyes on her
Keep don't look away
Keep your eyes on her horizon

Get me neil on the line
No I can't hold
Have him read
Snow glass apples
Where nothing is what it seems
Little sis you must crack this
He says to me
You must go in again
Carbon made
Only wants to be unmade
Blade to ice
It's double diamond time

And keep your eyes on her...

On her eyes
On her horizon

55Flash Fiction Friday

For weeks now, he loomed outside of the garden walls
watching her dance in the water
the moonlight reflecting from her green hair
her lavender skin he longed to touch
and those beautiful horns, so...
pointy
she felt him there
her love
tonight he jumps
misses
and slides into molten lava
she is alone again
Body And Soul

I am becoming so efficient here at susies the boss! Today I have combined my 55
with a little peek at a new Tori tune, and a glance at one of the lastest things sweeping the cyberworld. Now, I dont know about you, but I have never heard of this World of Warcraft stuff until I went looking on Youtube for some new Tori.
If you watched the video just now, you know what I am talking about!
Personally, I would love to be a 7 foot tall woman, with arms that hang down to my knees and end in giant fuzzy paws, 2 foot long horns sticking outa my green hair, which sorta blends in there with my maximus unibrow, coupled with a 15 inch waist, and big round boobs and buns like hers, wouldn't you?
Heh! Now I would really be interested in that World of Warcraft if it involved hacking down wilderness, homesteading, sewing or even building stuff with power tools, but I just dont wanna play war ok? Cant they make a girlie version of this game where we just get to look cool in our orange bikinis while refinishing the parquet?
Please, if you are into this World of Warcraft thing..tell me, what have I been missing?
Happy Weekend everyone and thanks for playing along with us! If you need to know more about Flash Fiction Friday, go here.

Oh man, you know that feeling when you eat until your tummy is about to burst? That is me, right now, and since I didn't really have time to do a proper HNT, what with saving people offa railroad tracks and all, I thought that I would just take a picture right after i've just eaten tres of my muy deliciouso tacos....I am fit to be burstin!

So is Mr Ratburn, but since I cooked, he has to clean up the dishes.

And then, take a look at those eyeballs, willya? Lime would be proud! I didn't even know I could make them go like that!

"MOOOMMMMMMMM"
"I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I am going to love puberty :

Musical Monday, Weekend Recap, La Plage, Red Hair....

Image hosting by PhotobucketThis week, I wanted to combine Musical Monday, and bring back, for the time being, one of my old regular posts, Tori Tuesday. Why is this, you ask? Tori has a new release!
Now, I searched YouTube for a video from her new stuff, but as its just come out, there's not much available yet. Well that got me searching, and what I did find are the most precious clips of an elementary school choir doing Tori song! The quality is crap, but I assure you, if you are even a little bit of a Tori fan, you will be moved by these beautiful children, and not bothered at all by the lame recording.
And I for one, am totally stoked that this music teacher has found a way to bring Tori's genius to his students. There was some rewriting of lyrics, of course, we can't have the kids singing..."I killed a man T, Ive got to stay hidden in this Abbey...", can we? LOL

I will write about the new Tori stuff later, which is by the way, absolutely delicious, but in the meanwhile...enjoy this!
Please enjoy.
NOT THE RED BARON

TWINKLE

If you played Musical Monday today, get over there and tell that lazy arse WDKY, that just because he's in the L word, doesn't mean he can't still play with us, right?
~
In other news, Little Rita and I had a henna party last night.....now, you have all seen my red-ish hair, how it looks with henna and all, but LR is a blonde! Woweeeee! (Pics tomorrow, ok?)Also, yesterday was Mothers Day & Mr Ratburns birthday..who by the way, shares the same bday as Thing Two. Here are some pics we took at the beach yesterday...I know I am dressed like a dork, it was fucking freezing out there, ok? LOL Enjoy!

Here's my little redhead! WOW!

Not Just Another Pretty Girl In A Swan Dress.....

Image hosting by Photobucket
This weeks tasty selection for Musical Monday is by Bjork, Venus As A Boy. I know you are all dying to know why I picked this song, especially you, Cathy. This song is a selection from Bjorks "Debut" album, which happens to be one of Rufus' all time favorite albums ever. (I can still call em albums, can't I?)
Venus As A Boy, sigh....I hope you will enjoy it.

In other news, I am back down to my regular readership of 5 faithful fans. Thank you for your dedication! LOL....like many bloggers before me, it seems I now have a life and not so much time to play....check out my online store if'n ya want to, to see what I've been up to lately. No goofin' off, honest!
My Little Rita is off to a week at outdoor nature camp with her entire 5th grade class, where they will sing hike camp explore eat run play laugh...all at the ocean! Have great time, Little Rita, I know I will! :D

Image hosting by PhotobucketOK Im a day late! But here it is, as promised, Musical Monday on Tuesday, and just for you, G~man, more Rufus! Performing with Rufus is Chris Stills, son of Steven Stills....and he has an awesome voice.
The song is called "Complainte de la Butte", from Moulin Rouge.
I hope your Monday was fantastic, and um, it's never too late for Musical Monday, right?
