55Flash Fiction Friday

It had been a long day out on the lake and the fish just weren't biting.
Chicken Little chewed on his soggy birdseed sandwich and thought about lobster thermador. He slouched down into his boat and soon was snoring away.
He awoke at midnight.
"Oh my stars, the sky really is falling!" the chicken exclaimed.
~
Just what was I thinking when I wrote this 55? I don't know about you, but the first time I saw the aurora borealis, I thought the sky was broken, too, just like Chicken Little! If you want to read more about Flash Fiction, go here. Otherwise, let me know if you played and I will send the posse over to check it out. Have a lovely weekend people!

Hi Susie, remember me? Sorry I've not visited for so long! V. jealous...S.O. and I would LOVE to see the Northern Lights (aka Aurora Borealis) properly, rather than just glimpsing them from a plane...and have made two trips to Lapland in an attempt to do so (and do a bit of skiing as well) to no avail, although Lapland in February is a wonderful experience in itself. xx

The Aurora Borealis is awesome. I have seen it where I am but one time I was in our Upper Peninsula and I saw them. I could not believe the rolling color and how intense everything was. There is nothing like being away from a big city when you see it. I was in a tiny college town thus not a ton of lights. Just amazing.

Love your picture and your story. Very nicely done. I am a little late but I did finally play. Have a nice weekend Susie.

poor chicken little! he must be one of those indomitable gauls, mortally afraid of the sky falling on their heads!

Wonderful 55 Susie!

I love the chicken licken connection. I use this story with my youngest students, the repitition is a great memory aid.
I didn't play as I just got back home and will leave again in 2 days, just enough time to visit some of my favourite blogs.

Hi there, wild one... Tess is from Yellowknife (go up to Alaska and veer right into Canada). As a kid she got to see Northern Light scenery like that all the time. I'll ask her about Chicken Little.

Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights - now you are talking!
Thats actually why I call my blog a Terella (little earth or a glass box) as it was there a Norwegian professor deduced that the currents flowed in the east-west directions along the auroral arc, and such currents, flowing from the day side towards (approximately) midnight.
