In India, you often have to pay to use the toilet. This woman is a toilet wallah on the Delhi-Agra Highway. Ok, I don't know if they are really called toilet wallahs...but.....anyway thats what she does. I just thought she looked so pretty sitting there behind the bougainvillieas and coleus...but you know, those toilet ladies can be pretty mean spirited! I once gave a five rupeee coin to a woman working in this very same restaurant bathroom, and do you know she threw that coin across the courtyard in disgust! I guess it just wasn't enough of a tip for her handing me a tiny crunchy piece of paper towel and turning the water on and off for me. (Now, how they make those crispy, noisy, waxy "paper" napkins is another story entirely....) Sorreee madam, next time I will toss crores, sheesh!
See you all later for HNT! Have a lovely day.

she does look pretty sitting behind the flowers . How did you react when the one lady threw your coins?
Paying to use the bathroom? wow! Do they have normal toilets?
Well Breazy, at first I thought I imagined it, but when I saw the five rupee coin land on the ground all the way over there......> LOL
I realized what she had done...I guess I was too shocked about how rude that was to react...I just stared wide eyed and then walked away...puzzled....
I mean sheesh....do I look like a millionaire? That is one of the issues in India, a lot of time they think you are so rich, and you are, relatively...but that doesnt mean you can adopt them all...although you might want to.
LOL Amber, that is another post entirely...the toilet situation...let me think that one over then I will make a post about it! Ack!
Barefoot Mistress,
I would pay YOU to pee in my back yard!
I have a nice back yard...
( I hope that wasn't too creepy of a first comment on your blog)
I would have picked up the tossed rupee and say something like -- "cool, thanks for the freebie'.
Kind like some of the places in Tijuana...
I too would have picked it up and stuck it back in my pocket but the way my luck goes they probably would have mugged me.
g-man...get to work!
Cool, the party is at my blog today hurray!
Next time that happends, Snavs and Jillie I will snatch that money right back and walk out with my nose in the air....
And um, g-man, I will pee anywhere if I have to badly enough, and thanks!
that is a great picture. i guess if i had to do toilet duty all day every day i might be a bit grumpy too.
I would probably have done the same thing Bare!
G-Man are you over here harrassing my friend ? LOL!
Wow, who is this G-man and why does he follow these ladies around?
:P
Next time, ask if she takes AMEX?
5 rupes for the paper, but you forgot the 95 for taking the picture. LoL
Mrs Ratburn,
Found your blog following some comments in someone else's blog i came contact in chatroom. (if u think i follow ladies around like G-man:) ).
It amazes me how humiliated one feels when treated the way u were, despite his/her generosity. I m not sure why u travel india so much, but next time u get a chance, please try to comprehend what else she does besides handing u out a tiny piece of paper and turning the water on and off for u. Believe me, the social history of these Rude people are heartrending. In early days, they were voicesless, defenceless and totally at mercy of the people they served.
BBut recently a faint voice to claim humanity is surging and they are using it where they deem it fit in their crude and -in the western or indian middle-class manners-uncivilised way.
I have a feeling of u being too rude to a poor illiterate and foreign woman way of saying, it is not enough to keep ur toilets clean with all the hearth hazards she was exposed to. Dont u tip more for the waiter to serve u ur food.
btw..despite wat opinion u had of her, u have caught a beautiful picture. would u mind if i use it :)
