Tori Tuesday

I noticed I haven't written much about Tori's newest release, The Beekeeper. That's because I don't like it as much as all the rest. However, Tori has become quite political in this stage of her career, and The Beekeeper touches on a lot of that. So, today I'm just gonna slap this Tori Quote up here to let you chew on......

"I know some artists prefer not to comment, but I’ve followed the US administration and I genuinely believe they’ve emotionally blackmailed and manipulated the American people. We’re living in a frightening time and I wish people would wake up and realise they’re surrendering their civil liberties."
From an early 2005 Tori interview at uncut.net. Click for details.

Amen Tori, amen!

I love Tori. I am a huge fan of her music but I am also an advocate for RAINN. She's an amazing woman. Granted, I feel she has lost some of her fire since becoming a wife and a mother, but don't we all. We get older and then suddenly, we are noticing things like politics. Blah. But she IS right. And if women aren't careful, we will be putting our ovaries in the oval office...with men to watch after them. Haven't played Beekeeper yet. Will have to give it a listen...one night when I have time for candlelight and a bath.

Alot of people have made comments about The Beekeeper not being as good as her previous albums. Personally I think she has just "matured". She has settled down, and has new things to worry about and be influence by. I don't think it makes her music any less than it was before, it just hits a different sort of nerve now. And from an artist's point of view, if you think about it. If you had done 10 albums which all sounded the same, wouldn't you get tired of the sound after awhile and want to try something new? I know I would and I'm sure she did too.

Happy Tori/Pancake Tuesday :)

Yes, Cyberwarlock I totally agree with you.....but still I like her pre-mommy music better than The Beekeeper...and I'm never one to criticise Tori, but I'm gonna do it now....The Beekeeper? What was she thinking? I really hate the cells and gardens theme of it, and I totally hate it that she released a bootleg set of 6 concerts all from the same tour! Hello? How many times can we hear that stupid Beekeeper song?
Yeah, matruing changes out art, and that's just the way it is....

I love her more everyday!!!

I really wish Americans would 'wake up' and see what our leaders are doing to our beloved country.

We are no safer now than we were on 9/10/2001....

in fact I would argue we are LESS secure.....

We are isolated more and more from allies...and the mid-east is becomming a 21st century powder keg that we have created!

I'm a little late on this one. I haven't given BeeKeeper a fair chance. I mean I really haven't listened to it that much and I probably should.

Maybe she is so happy with her life right now, that her music is focussing on outside issues?
