I Me Mine I Me Mine I Me Mine....

I love pumpkins, but I'll bet you already know that about me! This year I grew a couple of Atlantic Giants. Only a couple because that's how they get giant...you really can't have more than one, but this year I chose to keep two!
They are actually about 40 pounds each at this point, nothing compared to the 300-1000 pounders that expert pumpkin growers can achieve. The pumpkin in this picture was about 2000...erm, ok 20 pounds when that shot was taken. In the meanwhile, I can pretend, can't I, that my Atlantic Giants are actually giant sized this year?
~
Did you ever grow anything that got totally out of control? Like the time you got a thousand zuchinnis or something? Tell me about it!
Ha, reminds me, I've got about 2,000 dahlia bulbs...which makes me think...know why dahlia bulb dealers never get rich?
Because dahlia bulbs multiply like rabbits under the soil, and then you never need to buy more, and in fact, can give away like, hundreds and still have hundreds left....if anyone's interested!

the first time i grew a vegetable garden i did not know what i was doing. a friend said he'd save space for me in his garden because my yard was so teeny weeny. i said i wanted to grow tomatoes, beans, corn, peas. he said to get about 3 tomato plants. i very idiotically bought 3 six-packs and then as i was driving thought...hhmm....there's a lot of stems in there. i asked my friend and he said i had about 36 tomato plants. so that's the only thing i planted and i had tomatoes coming out the ears. i couldn't give them all away (people turned the other way when they saw me coming) so i made sauce and froze it. i had sauce for 18 months. it was outrageous.

I never grew anythign myself. My family did though and I remember one year when I was little and teh tomato bushes had so many big tomatoes on them, that I thought it was impossible that those thin green plants can hold them up. That´s when I lost my belief in gravity!

What did I grow that got out of control...my teenage daughter?
LOL...Oh and the mint, that really got crazy. Love the satisfaction of growing from seed or bulb, seeing those little brave shoots oushing up out of the dirt...

I grew some really neat pennicillin in my fridge once. I started with meatloaf seeds and just basically left it alone for a few weeks, er ... months and it just grew and grew. It was this beautiful bluish green color. It was purdy. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I grow some awesome weeds.
Does that count?
Send dahlias, I will photograph my attempts not to kill them, should be good for a laugh.

Where's the bug spray? There seems to be a pest in the garden.

I grew mini-pumpkins one year. Even though they weren't HUGE.. they did take over. They sprawled out everywhere!! I had mini pumpkins to last forever.
Needless to say, we didn't plant anymore after that :)

Woow, what a giant pumpkin!
My wife tried to grew pumpkins when coming over from NY, US to Norway, but no success:-( So even if we would love to have some seeds, I don't think we can make them grow, at least that big!
Have a lovely hump day Susie:-)
